Awascho-Dickfas, Hidatsa Man

Description

Although the inscription on the sketch shown here reads "Mandan Indian," the drawing is clearly a penciled version of the watercolor shown in Plate 323. The same view was incorporated into Tableau 27 of the aquatints, where Awascho-Dickfas appears as a spectator at a scalp dance.
