Strange Sandstone Formations on the Upper Missouri

Description

In the region of the Stone Walls on August 6, Maximilian observed, "On the right on these strange rocky walls we saw a flock of about twelve bighorns which appear to be most numerous in this region." The lower of two sketches on this sheet, designated by the letters 00, appears to include representations of bighorn sheep on the summit of a foothill below high cliffs.
