Morgan's Island
Description
On the afternoon of April 26, the steamer made only a little headway upstream before encountering more snags. Maximilian observed, "The steamboat could not move forward, so it was let to go backwards, and with the force of the current drove against new snags." The ship eventually ran forward again only to run aground in the vicinity of Morgan's Island, where it remained overnight. Bodmer made this sketch on the following morning.
