Wild Cactus

Description

Bodmer's studies of cactus reproduced here were made near Fort Union on the upper Missouri in June, according to the brief inscription at the bottom of the sheet. Maximilian and his party stayed at Fort Union from June 24 through July 6 before departing upriver by keelboat for Fort McKenzie below the modern Fort Benton, Montana.
