Description

Bodmer did not always date his studies at the time of execution, and several carry subsequent inscriptions that are unclear or inaccurate. Nevertheless, his landscapes and river views preserve aspects of the American wilderness since changed by settlement. As works of art they demonstrate Bodmer's sensitivity as a watercolorist and his skill as an observer of nature.
